Comedy of Pain
« on: March 13, 2020, 11:52:07 pm »
I wasn't sure whether to put this under the prayer list or just make a lighter post about it, but I decided on the lighter post.

Over the past month:
-had a terrible mammogram with a horrible tech who left me in pain for 3 days. And, as is the rule, on the rare occasions I have terrible techs, it came back 'suspicious' and I have to go back in for more testing. But, with the risk of cancer, they can't get me in for more testing until April 1st.
-I finally decided after years of suffering from side effecst of some of the things broken after my peritonitis surgery in '08, and many other failed therapies to deal with it, I spent a lot of $$$ and suffering on invasive testing and then a last-ditch small surgical procedure this last Wednesday. The surgery should have been effective pretty much immediately. It has improved things maybe 10%.
-The compressor on our refrigerator died today. It is supposedly still covered by warranty, but nothing else is, so the warranty-approved service is $375 just for the service call. Did I mention that we had to pay almost $2000 in taxes this year even though we increased withholdings last year because we owed $2100 due to the 'tax cuts.'
-hurt my hip over Christmas. Hasn't improved. Went to the doctor about it today. He suspects torn cartilage, and ordered an x-ray. May need hip surgery.
-Today the first instance of coronavirus was diagnosed in Idaho. True to form, the person diagnosed had contact with 3 people at my company last week, so all my team meetings are now going to be electronic, but most of my team doesn't understand video conferencing and we have no tech people at the company, except for possibly me. Have I mentioned the severe scarring in my lungs along with other health issues that make me one of the vulnerable populations with a fairly high death rate if she catches covid-19? Oh, and since we do community-based mental health, we really can't work from home when it comes to our clients, and I also have 2/3 VERY high risk clients.

On the plus side, I've already hit my insurance out of pocket cap for the year. Wheeeeee!
When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid
The new dawn blooms as we free it
For there is always light,
if only we're brave enough to see it
If only we're brave enough to be it

Dyany, I'm so sorry that all of these things are hitting so close together. It doesn't seem fair. And now, with the "social distancing" recommendation, I imagine it makes it even worse because it limits contact with some of the the people we usually turn to. We're here. I know it's not the same, but let's all help each other through this. All the schools in Utah are closed for two weeks, and the teachers are conducting online classes. So I'll be here a lot, and I'll do my best to not be confrontational  :) Hang in there, my dear Sister. As Legolas said to Aragorn on the walls of Helm's Deep, "Your friends are with you."

Sometimes things are just so bad, laughing is the only response appropriate.   Curse and blessing.   Glad you're seeing the lighter side.
