Sorry if you have already spoken about it here before.

But last month, I watched the entire first season of The Chosen.

Oh my gosh, it was so touching and beautiful.  The depiction of the Savior is beyond engaging.

It is a main stream Christian (pretty orthodox) production of the life of Christ.  It also goes into detail in the lives of Peter, Andrew, Mary Magdalene, Matthew, John, James, and Nicodemus (among others).  They insist on making Mary Magdalene start out as a woman of ill repute, but even that is done amazingly well.

It's free if you want to watch it on your phone via the Vidangel app.  Or you can also pay to stream it from the website.  If you buy the DVD's like I did, you can also stream it for free.  I bought the DVD's but ended up watching nearly the entire show on streaming before they arrived.

There is a lot more to go.  They've only just gotten past the wedding at Cana.  No Martha or Mary yet.

It was crowd-funded by Vidangel, which is a company that allows you to censor a movie according to your desires.

Here's a link. I think you'll be able to watch the first episode for free. There was also a Christmas one about the shepherds that was released in 2018.

I have just finished watching the first two seasons of The Chosen. It is so powerful. The second season ended with the delivery of the Sermon on the Mount. You can find it at https://watch.angelstudios.com/thechosen and it is totally free to watch, though you are encouraged to "pay it forward" by giving money for someone else to watch it for free, or to fund the third season. But that isn't required to see the episodes.

I am enthralled with the way Jesus is portrayed. He is human, but still perfect! He is not totally serious or forbidding, but friendly and thoughtful and tired and perceptive and has fun. Yet there are those moments when you can see he knows something of his future and it weighs him down. The actor is doing a remarkable job.

I also like the apostles and other characters. They are suddenly real to me. I know that there are is a lot of liberty taken with the characters because there isn't a lot known about them, but the liberties seem to be right! For example, Matthew is portrayed as perhaps being on the autism spectrum. That may not, probably isn't, the way Matthew actually was, but it does make him a person different from the others. Simon Peter, the Sons of Thunder, Simon, all interesting.

Mary's story was so real to me, even though I've never been the prostitute they chose to portray her as, because her story reflects so very many women I've known who feel beyond saving, even with a testimony of the gospel, and must slowly learn to trust in the Lord again and again.

I encourage you to watch this. Then, I'm interested in your thoughts!  (Thanks TurkeyLurker for bringing this to my attention last year!)

I watched the first 3 episodes on Peacock this week. It was pretty powerful. I love seeing historical figures made "real". Seeing the faults and humanity in them advances my faith more than a sterile view of prophets.

I watched the first episode again with my wife. It wasn't quite as powerful the second time as I was using my analytical mind to see how they were using music to drive the feelings and emotions they wanted you to experience. I think it is more fun to watch without that critical thinking, so I think I will only watch it once.

Also, if I can watch it on a different Platform without the Peacock commercials, which come in at the worst times, it might be better.

I really like it.  It's helping me with my testimony of  Christ.  While intellectually I knew he was alive and loving and compassionate etc He always felt far away and...wooden? to me.  Now besides being grateful for what I did I WANT to be with him, not just thought it would be good to be with Him.
Time for a change.  I am yungmom, but have wanted a new username for some time.
