Read Omni 1:17.

There is a missing word in our textus receptus. What and where is it?

To avoid spoilers, don't read any other posts until you've submitted your answer.

(To clarify: The verse doesn’t work grammatically. A single English word fixes it.)

The verse doesn’t work grammatically. It needs another element that is represented by a single word in English.

"neither"?  Is that the word?

What-about-ism is pointless. I like to think most people's responses to such arguments would be, "Yup. That person, who happened to wear the same political jersey I do/did, was totally wrong on that, too."

Oh, yes, it's poor English - but I just put that down to it being written/said by an American.

 ;D

Not just American, but 1830's frontier American!  Translating and writing by candlelight in a cabin, with homemade quill and ink - quite a feat, but errors crept in.   And then from there, having to re-transcribe everything from the original notes, into a printer's manuscript, and more errors.   And then from that, the printer set type, more errors.  And then, halfway through the first printing there was an issue, and when the printer corrected it, another error had crept in.  Meaning, the first copy of the first printing, and the last copy of the first printing, were slightly different.

It's amazing to think about Royal Skousen's decade-spanning research effort to get everything spelled out clearly.

It's grammatically correct (though uncommon) to use "nor" without "neither." When you're making a list of negatives, which is what this verse does, you should use the correlative pair neither and nor. However, you can use just one nor, without neither, if you use nor with the last thing in the list. I know, it's an arcane rule, but it's still permissible  ;)

Considering how long ago this was translated, I think we need to be very aware of what 'arcane' might apply to.
