Give thanks to politicians
« on: November 20, 2020, 11:41:55 pm »
How about we create a give thanks political thread. To whom and what you are grateful for in current or past, global or local politicians?

I'm grateful for our first female president who showed a woman can get elected, be a good president, and all that without 'looking good' too. (Tarja Halonen)

I am grateful for our past president who has done a lot of peacework globally after being a president and created the CMI (Crisis management inituative) organization who continues working on the world peace. (Martti Ahtisaari)

I am grateful for Barack Obama who showed that it is possible for a black man to be elected as a president of the US.

I am thankful for the Netherlands PM who really does his best in a traumatic time, keeps his private life very private, rides a bike to work ( or did until rabblerousers threatened him, so security forced him to take a car)   and in general is a calm and steady voice to the citizens.  Yes he makes decisions people do not like but in the end he is an exemplary civil servant and deserves support.

I'm thankful for Mitt Romney's public service and his continuing willingness to put the good of the country over party allegiance.

I'm thankful for Kirk Hunsaker, the mayor of my little town, who works tirelessly to improve the community.
Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. - John Dewey

I am grateful for Nicola Sturgeon, who has been a rock in terms of keeping us safe in Scotland. Our infection rate was down to zero for a while during the summer because of her leadership. Things have changed since then, but she has done a tremendous job of keeping us united and safe. I don't agree with her on many things politically but she has done a brilliant job over the pandemic
