Tithing app
« on: March 04, 2020, 01:04:27 pm »
I will pay my tithing online, and at one point I had an app on my phone for it.  I had a different phone then and I can't find the app again. Didoes anyone know what that App was?

I'm not familiar with an app, but you can do it online through lds.org's membership portal.

I just go to the church site on my phone's browser and pay through there. It's fairly mobile-friendly.

I've read that Apple takes a portion of all payments made through any app on any Apple device. If that's true, then I would be very surprised if the Church ever makes it possible to pay tithes through an app.

This year I paid with appreciated stocks. It was an interesting process, because they do not tell you the dollar value of what you donated, only the number of shares. You have to note the high and low value of the stock on the day that it finally gets transferred to the church, and then use the average between those 2 numbers.

I've heard of people paying with stocks but never knew anyone who actually did. yeah I just can't find that app and I never used it but it was convenient and I went to go use it it wasn't on my phone anymore.so I guess it's back to the usual way of doing it going through lds.org for me.

Are you sure the app was put out by the church? I'm really surprised that I haven't heard of it.

I paid it on my phone via churchofjesuschrist.org yesterday for the first time.  I had been doing it on my desktop, but I thought I'd go mobile and try something new.  Works great.

I didn't know there was an app.  :)

I don't think there was ever an official app put out by the church. There might have been a test app that had a limited release, but the financial security headaches with such an endeavor are too big to set up and then abandon.

The only thing my research pulled up was a non-Church-created app for TRACKING your tithing (called Full Tithe), not paying it.
