Anybody home? I stopped by the Chinese take-out place & brought dinner. We have fried rice (pork & vegetarian), steamed rice, shrimp chow mein, egg rolls, & a vegetarian dish with water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, broccoli, & several kinds of mushrooms.

I'll put it out on the kitchen table & you can come by any time & have some. There is a cheesecake in the fridge (I know, not very Chinese, but I saw it & couldn't resist.  :P )

BTW, Punkin, is that your little pal sitting outside the Cabin? You're the most likely of our critters to make friends with wildlife. He/she (I couldn't tell) is a real cutie. We aren't supposed to feed coyotes, but if you or the other critters wanted to share something & I don't see, I'm not breaking the law.  ;D

Warm kitty, soft kitty … confused mountain lion caught in downtown San Francisco & returned to wildland outside the city.

Coyotes have been out in the city a lot since SIP started, & a mountain lion was seen in a residential area of Daly City a week or so ago. That’s the next town south of San Francisco. With cities starting to come back to life, some of these critters might feel disoriented because they haven’t had to contend with many people for a few months. And I’m wondering how the spring crop of new animals at the zoo, which have never seen people other than the staff, might react when the two-footed gawkers return.

No, Punkin – stay away from that “kitty.” No, it is not the neighbor’s cat coming over to make friends & look for a handout. It may have done in a kangaroo, so it would see you as something like a Snickers bar.  :(

It's a beautiful sunny day in the Bay Area, but it is SO windy. I was out for a short time, but it wasn't very comfortable. So I'm up on the Cabin deck doing some reading, & keeping an eye on the wandering critters because we have real wildlife roaming around out there. If anyone wants dinner, I grilled some brats & there's sauerkraut fresh from the deli, mac salad, & fruit salad.

Holy shark! That's wild, Curelom!

How's everyone doing? What's new with everyone?

The husband and I have... moved. To Canada. We have no idea for how long - that depends on if we like it and if immigration lets Fahim stay here. We're currently in Toronto, quarantining, but when mandatory quarantine is over in another week or so, we'll be looking for a longer-term place. We're not sure if we're staying in Ontario or if we're wandering elsewhere - everything is up in the air right now.

Welcome to North America, Laurie!  8)  I won't bring any cooties up there. I know we have them. We didn't have to, we could be like Canada or even Mexico, but no, some people had to make a mess of wrong (or no) decisions & too many had to talk themselves into thinking it was just the flu & would go away. So here we are - America First.

Can you beam some poutine, ketchup chips, & Namaimo bars down to the Cabin? We... I mean Punkin & Dreyfuss... are getting bored with the usual menu & could do with some variety.   :P

It's a nice sunny day here, just the kind of day that we were told would kill the virus  ;) . I'm going to go for a walk, with proper distancing, sacrifice my personal freedom by wearing a mask, & get some sun & fresh air. I'll take something to read or a puzzle. Some of the critters might come along. Any other Porchupines are welcome. Remember, we do cyber distancing.

Remember this mountain lion that was seen on several occasions wandering around downtown San Francisco? It was captured, examined, tagged, & released in a wildlife refuge near the San Mateo County coast.

Warm kitty, soft kitty … confused mountain lion caught in downtown San Francisco & released to a wildlife preserve in San Mateo County, to the south.

Well, the poor cat just couldn't make it in the RW. You know the old saying, "How are you gonna keep 'em down on the farm, once they've seen Paree"? Probably looking to return to "civilization" after getting a taste of big-city life, it got onto a highway & was  :'(  hit & killed, quite a distance from any of the likely places where I think it would have been released. It was said to be a young cat, & maybe it had gotten separated from its mother too soon & hadn't yet learned how to be an adult mountain lion.

Don't anyone tell our critters. They were interested in this story & I just can't stand to let them know yet what happened to this cat.

OTOH, it's fine to share this next story with them. This cat is awesome! It's a tuxedo, like our Ivie, but I doubt Ivie could bust those moves. That's why we seldom let her wander far on her own, she would be just an appetizer for some of our neighbors.

Sorry for the late response, Curelom. Can I blame mandatory quarantine? LOL! I've left poutine, Nanaimo bars, and butter tarts on the counter along with ketchup chips, dill pickle chips, Tim Hortons doughnuts, and Timbits. Not sharing my salt & vinegar chips, not sorry. LOL!

It's scary how many people in Toronto don't wear masks, either. We've been out three times since quarantine - two trips to the grocery store that's about 50 meters away and once to the print shop to take care of paperwork. We estimate about 30-40% wear masks properly, but only 5-10% if they're jogging or biking.

I've already had a ton of friends and family ask when we're going to visit them in other provinces. I've had to set expectations already that that won't be happening until after the pandemic is over or we have a vaccine that provably works - I'm high risk, so we're absolutely minimizing contact with people. I mean, we're hermit introverts anyway, but...

How's everyone doing?

I'm doing okay. I'm recovering from the flight still, though I'm finally at the very tail end of things. My knees were being incredibly difficult, but they're finally approaching my normal again, so that's good.

Online church? Fantastic. The Toronto ward had a very very short church service - about 45 minutes. It doesn't look like a ton of people show up, but it also looks like the ward itself is fairly small. It's hard to know what with only seeing people in a zoom meeting or in a facebook group, and the facebook group isn't conversational - it seems to be used just for announcements and nothing more. Ah well. I've still got you all. :)

Yesterday was our 17th wedding anniversary. We ordered out and had Indian food, which was good. Not as good as the Indian food in Sri Lanka, but this is not really surprising - food is frequently adapted for the local palate.

Hi, Punkin! :) You're such a sight for sore eyes. We're all having such a hard time & I need some critter time. Let's sit out here on the deck & enjoy the fog & the cool air. Maybe we'll see some deer, or even a coyote. The damp weather will be good for all the wildfires, & there are no coronavirus cooties up here to worry about.

* Ivie & Dreyfuss migrate out to the deck. *

OK, everyone is welcome. I'll get some pet snacks for you & a book for me, & we'll be couch potatoes for an hour or two.
