There's plenty of land out there, maybe someone can start building a new cabin?
Don't ask me, I only live here.

We can also guess that our prayer requests were so pure they were translated.   O:-)  I often like to go back and see the requests, and the results of those prayers.

Or a FORTRESS!

Let's not get carried away. I don't think a fortress evokes the same imagery of peacefulness and welcoming that a cabin and porch do.

But I wouldn't mind a hidden basement stocked with several years' necessities -- food, water, cat chow, etc.

There was a Fortress in old Nauvoo. We had occasional battles with the Cabin and the Porch. We lost most of the battles. But what we lacked in strategy, we made up for in tomfoolery. Remember Silent Ninja? Remember the Kamikaze termites? They came from the Fortress. Good times...Good times...

Ultimately, the Cabin and the Porch endured, while the Fortress fell into ruin. Like Brigadoon, the Fortress will rise triumphant again! Or maybe not. The upkeep took too much work.

I'm soooo sorry, Punkin. I don't know what to tell you. You were so attached to the Cabin, like all of us, & now it's gone, we don't know where. Some folks say it was translated, but I doubt we were that good.  ::)   You critters are probably translatable because you're naturally good & are not accountable, but the two-footers might be another story.

There's a rumor that some neighbors are building a new Cabin. It will never be the same - there were so many memories & events there for all of us & we've lost so much irreplaceable stuff, but the Incabitants & Porchupines will be there. You can stay here for awhile & grieve for your old home, & then go to the new Cabin when you feel like it. In fact, we don't know but that the old Cabin might still reappear. There's no accounting for the weirdness of tech & the stuff that can happen in cyberspace. "They" say once something is out there, it never really goes away. But we can't guarantee anything.

We need you & Dreyfuss to help round up the other critters. Some of them have scattered, probably out of confusion, & the Cabin won't be the Cabin without all of you. Dreyfuss & Ivie are here with you, but where are Hound, Annabelle, Pepper, Mungo, Teazer, & Mandee?

So I did the best I could at digging through the underlying database tables. I can tell you that there are about 66 Topics that at sometime were started and no longer exist. Some of those will be thread the originator deleted, I have done that myself in the past.

2,911 messages are no longer in the system. These will likely include the Cabin, Iggy's Ramblings, etc. Some will be messages people thought better of.

These are estimates based on index numbers that no longer exist in the messages and topics data tables.

How they disappeared I can not tell. It could have been malicious, but I doubt it. I may have happened due to an error during thread movement, this seems the most likely to me.

I am sorry, and there have now been attempts made to overcome this with the recycle bin approach. I will also try to create a backup process. I can not say when because I am snowed under at work at the moment. But I will create something that runs in my own systems are backs the database up to my local database.
