JLM: as Politics is its own section, having separate subsections, even a short list, would make more sense. Otherwise, as it has been, it becomes all USA, all the time, and we are international enough that it's overbearing.

From what I have seen in talking to people around the world, the U.S. has a distinct culture, yes (not ethnicity, but definitely culture. And 'ethnocentricity' can apply to either). From what I have seen, most 1st world countries don't view it favorably. And 2nd and 3rd world countries, it depends on how much we've helped them or sanctioned/had military action with them.  We don't have the rich, older monocultural heritage of most regions, but we have a definite culture/face to the world.

I don't view  the US as an ethnic group. But it certainly is a very distinct cultural group.

As a European I think one political would be enough. I can't see much of discussion that is not US  centered in one way or another. Even when it is about European politics, it is very.much through the lens of US, since most of you guys are Americans. I don't see any need/point to divide into subsections.

Checking Webster's.....

Ethnocentricity:  having or based on the idea that your own group or culture is better or more important than others

I sure hope no one here feels this way.  Seems very unchristlike to me.  Ok.  I concur that we need to make clear that this a multinational forum.

I've never thought of the US as a distinct ethnic group.  Is that how the rest of the world views the country?

Not so much ethnic group, but definitely a different mentality. In general you are so bound up in your Constitution and being Free, you fail to see that not everything in the US is a great as it might be.

And that is a massive generalisation I know.
Don't ask me, I only live here.
