Baby #3 is here.
« on: July 31, 2019, 11:04:58 am »
Baby # 3 decided to surprise all of us and come 1 month early. He needed some respiratory support for the first 6 hours, but is now on room air and hopefully will go to mama's room from the special nursery soon.

Congratulations, Jason!  I hope baby gets to go home with mom. My grandson came early, needed oxygen, and was in the special nursery. He was there for a few days after mom went home. That was really rough. He's doing okay, now. I hope recovery goes well for your wife and new baby.  Have you chosen a name?

Baby is 5.5 months old now and doing very well. His big brother and sister love him very much. He loves to be held upright and look around at the world. I brought in the high chair to see how well he would sit in it. He needs a bit of padding to keep from tipping to a side, but I think he will start to like the idea of participating at meal time. Like his siblings, he became a great sleeper earlier than many other babies, which improved my wife's well being immensely.

We are having a hard time determining the color of his eyes. Mine are a pale green. My wife has brown eyes. #1's are blue eyes. #2's has turned a beautiful brown, though we called them hazel when we got his passport at 4 months. #3 appears to have a bit of green in them, though gray/brown/blue have also been used, depending on the day and the ambient light and background.

Those are true hazel, mine are that color. Depending on what color I wear they change. Dad called me chameleon eyes. Mom loved to dress me in *Old Lady* orange/green plaid and watch my eye color change. I loved to wear red/blue plaids or lavender.

My Dad's eye color was almost lavender. When he got really mad they turned battle ship grey. Mom had dark chocolate brown eyes, with a blue ring around the iris. The rest of my siblings were either blue eyed blondes or brown eyed blondes. Me, hazel with mousy brown hair.

Today is his first birthday. I was on call overnight at the hospital, so I brought cupcakes for the nurses in OB along with a picture of him and a note thanking them.

One year ago today our family had gone to a local beach to play. As he has not officially been to that beach, we will celebrate his birthday by having a party at that beach today with some family.

Milestones: He is cruising pretty well. Crawls like greased lightning, so tough to keep track of him. He loves going to the stairs. And he loves getting into anything he is not supposed to. His eyes are definitely brown.

Happy birthday, Son of Jason! Did he get a cupcake, too? I remember when one of my sons ate a cupcake with blue frosting on his one-year-old birthday. His next two diapers were filled with blue.

Happy Birthday to Jason's little guy.

(I'm a little late, but I doubt he'll notice).
