Research about horses in North America

I am unfamiliar with the publisher, or publication, but I thought the info would be interesting to know even before we confirm it is real.

PNR, thank you for the link. I read the article and shared it on FB. I have a daughter-in-law who is First Nations (Cree) from Canada. She said essentially the same thing. Her nation's oral history has always included horses, from way before the Europeans brought them.

I was most intrigued by the assertion that the spanish had left very good records of their horses, and the first were in Mexico City just two years before native horses were documented in the Carolinas, which wouldn't have been enough time to have come from them.

But then someone pointed out that Ponce de Leon was in FL in 1513, and couldn't there be enough time for spanish horses to have made it to the Carolinas?  (The only documentation I could find of him with horses in FL was in 1521 which is after the Carolina horses, but then I've not spent a lot of time.

If you google Ms. Collin's name, you'll find the actual dissertation.
