Are our California Nauvoodles all doing okay?

I am about 100 miles from the epicenter. There is just desert and a few mountains between us and the epicenter. No damage for us, just a lot of rolling and shaking. They are now saying yesterday's quake was a fore shock of tonight's quake. Yesterday was a 6.4, tonight's is 6.9 - 7.1. Tonight's was much stronger and lasted longer. Plus, we actually felt more of the aftershocks this time where we are.

I think Libertygranny & CrowGirl are the closest. KetchupQueen has probably been feeling them – she is in the Pasadena area.

The epicenter, near Ridgecrest, is about 100 miles east of Bakersfield. Ridgecrest is a fair-sized town with a naval R&D facility as its major employer, but the whole area is basically rural.

I have not felt any of them. Boardmadd isn’t too far from me (if he is still in the same place). We are on the San Francisco Peninsula. I heard reports on the news of people feeling the quakes from as far as Sacramento, San Jose, Las Vegas, even Mexico. I don’t know how credible all of those reports are, since people can be impressionable and prone to the power of suggestion. But in the immediate area, there have been reports of building damage, fires, and medical calls (that could mean actual injuries, heart attacks, or psychological distress).

Prayers going forth for all the folks affected.

According to his Facebook post from yesterday, Boardmadd was at the LA Convention Center yesterday with DD Amber.

We just had a very feelable earthquake in the Bay Area. The epicenter was in Walnut Creek, east of Oakland. Our news station says people reported feeling it over a large portion of Northern California. In 3 days, the Bay Area will remember the 30th anniversary of the Loma Prieta quake, the most serious one in our region since the 1906 San Francisco calamity.

We just weathered the PG&E mass pre-emptive power shutoffs, which were planned to de-energize electrical equipment in areas of high winds & abundant dry vegetation. PG&E has been found either definitely or probably responsible in a number of destructive & deadly California wildfires in the last couple of years, including the Paradise fire that caused 84 deaths & destroyed a town of 15,000 people. No one is happy with how the shutoffs went down. But apparently no large fires were caused by electrical equipment while they were in effect.

One of the bigger fires this week was near KQ, in northern Los Angeles county. I hope Her Heinzness & family are doing well.
