Welcome to Nauvoo, Grunt! It's nice to have a new neighbor here - it's been awhile since anyone moved in & we were wondering if maybe Google Maps wasn't showing Nauvooville anymore.

Drop by the Cabin later & meet some of the neighbors. Some of us live there, some hang out, & others drop in occasionally to socialize. There's usually food & drink (we have hot cocoa & spiced cider at the moment). If you like animals, you'll find a herd of them at the Cabin.

Bro. Grunt, welcome to Nauvoo. We have cookies.  Well, at least the Cabin has cookies. Virtual ones. They're kinda like diet cookies: All of the anticipation with none of the guilt.  ;)

Welcome, Brother Grunt!  How far north are you?  I was born in Brooklyn, NY but I consider myself a South Carolinian now (hence my moniker Palmetto_Gal).  When you feel more comfortable here, we'd like to get to know you better.  For instance, does the name Grunt come from the sounds you make, or perhaps from a military appellation?  If I guessed correctly on the military connection, might you be stationed at Fort Drum, where it's very cold and snowy?  I have a vivid imagination and sometimes it gets the best of me.  Feel free to share if and when you want to.  In the meantime, welcome to Nauvoo!

Greetings, Grunt! Why not tell us a bit about you, like... I dunno. Your favourite food? Hobbies you enjoy? What you think about Nanaimo bars or poutine?

Sometimes Nanaimo bars or poutine show up at the Cabin. When they do, we know Laurie is back in town. :P

You aren't too far off.  I'm in New England and still wear the uniform.  I'm currently on the other side of the country for a few weeks, but I can't wait to get home.

There are a few military veterans here. And forum members who have family in the military.  My first career was Air Force.  I'm a school teacher now.

I'm another former military turned teacher. I retired after 24 years in the Air Force, then taught high school for ten years. I retired from that and now I substitute teach part time. I enjoy working with teenagers (most of the time). I recently subbed for a full week at a small charter high school where I've worked enough that I know most of the students. At the end of the week I told the class, "I don't miss working full-time, but I do miss teaching full-time."

Anyway, welcome to Nauvoo.
