If you use the todoist premium app - Light the World
« on: November 18, 2018, 07:21:57 pm »
I've created a couple of templates of Light the World for todoist.  I think you need to be a premium user to use them.

Time for a change.  I am yungmom, but have wanted a new username for some time.

I'm intrigued. What's todoist? (Right now I'm thinking it's someone like me, who prefers the original recording of "Africa" and thinks Weezer's cover is an abomination.)

First, I'm also interested in using an app to do the Light The World thing.

Second, the absolute best thing that ever happened to the Leonard Cohen song Halleluia, was to get it far, far away from Leonard Cohen and into the hands of everyone who ever did a cover of it.

What-about-ism is pointless. I like to think most people's responses to such arguments would be, "Yup. That person, who happened to wear the same political jersey I do/did, was totally wrong on that, too."

I'm not usually a fan of KD Lang, but her cover is haunting (in a good way).

Also... Sara Bareilles' cover of everything she covers is stunning. My favorite:

Finally, may I submit the band, "Scary Pockets". It's a project including Jack Conte, co-founder of Patreon (and half of Pomplamoose). Fantastic musicians doing excellent funk covers of songs you wouldn't expect, like Radiohead's "Creep". Watching them is as much fun as listening to them; you can tell they're having the time of their lives.

So I'm not averse to covers in any way. I just feel like Weezer took all the color and layers out of "Africa". :)

(Sorry for the hijack, Patty Rain!)

The "Sing" version has become my favorite. Not only for Tori Kelly's voice, but also for the verses she performed. No sexual innuendo.
