Inspiration
« on: June 28, 2018, 03:52:21 pm »
I seem to find a lot of inspiration in Christian music.  This past week, the lyrics to this song have come to mind often as I've talked with my sister.  She's been a single mom since her only child, a daughter, was a baby.  Her daughter is getting married, now, and my sister is having challenges with all the changes happening.

My child, I bore your cross, I wore your crown
When you couldn't come to me, my love came down
So take My hand, I'll lead you out
'Cause that was then
And this is now

When we first moved here I fell apart. I don't know why.  It wasn't that big of a change, but somehow it really came apart.

In the first month or two all we could find was Christian and Spanish radio stations for some reason. I don't know why as some then we have found tons of other types.

One afternoon a member of the band "Crowder" was telling of his song, "I AM". He told how "I am" goes both ways - I, Patty (or Jana or Roper or Iggy etc), am holding on to Christ and I AM (Christ) is holding on to Christ. That we need to have it go both ways.

This is why it's to you I run
There's no space that His love can't reach
There's no place where we can't find peace
There's no end to Amazing Grace

[Chorus:]
I am
Holding on to you
I am
Holding on to you
In the middle of the storm
I am holding on
I am

That helped me hold on to him and kept me going.

Time for a change.  I am yungmom, but have wanted a new username for some time.

On a related note ( ugh not intended)  I was searching in vain for hymns or just Christian music to play or sing for our discussion on Personal Revelation. Since its a crucial doctrine, I was  amazed to find zero hymns that address personal revelation.  Holy Ghost. following Jesus, all that but nothing specific to the process of personal revelation.  interesting. or am I just weird?

I listen to the dutch Groot Nieuws radio every morning while in the kitchen prepping. I listen to the all instrumental CBN radio Selah in my atelier.  I don't listen to regular radio anymore. It's just too much the lyrics....

JanaLynn, the closest one that comes to mind is "Let the Holy Spirit Guide" hymn #143.

Let the Holy Spirit guide;
Let him teach us what is true.
He will testify of Christ,
Light our minds with heaven’s view.

Let the Holy Spirit guard;
Let his whisper govern choice.
He will lead us safely home
If we listen to his voice.

Let the Spirit heal our hearts
Thru his quiet, gentle pow’r.
May we purify our lives
To receive him hour by hour.

added:  I think it's totally cool that you have an atelier. When I learned about elementary schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, I was struck by how each classroom has an atelier and each school has a gallery or courtyard to display the students' creations.

Jana,

Write one, and submit it for the new hymn book.
Don't ask me, I only live here.

afterthought to Roper.
Atelier is a word left over from when Janalymited was a couture business run from my home.  It sounded better than converted back bedroom.  Janalymited closed when I stepped on an Air France flight Christmas Eve 1991 and the best third of my life began.
My atelier today is a custom built workroom (designed by me, built by Himself) in part of what used to be a goat barn now rechristened as the Annex to our house.  I spend many happy hours crafting, sewing, and creating in the late spring and summer there. By October it gets too damp and cold back there so my handiwork glitters the living room until May.
Now you know.
