Did any Utah Nauvoodles attend last night's 40th anniversary celebration at the Conference Center?  I streamed it and watched while I worked.  What an amazing production!  If you saw it, what did you find to be most impressive about the evening?

I watched it on-line, & I loved it! I've read & heard lots about the old "restriction," including the 2012 explanatory addition to the scriptures, but this all happened before my time in the Church, during a time when no church or religion interested me much.

I appreciated President Oaks acknowledging the sorrow caused by the restriction, the faithfulness & hope of those who truly believed that the Lord knew best & the right would ultimately triumph, & the issues some Church members had that took years to resolve (which is not uncommon when anyone's attitude about anything needs to change or be changed). Living in the Bay Area, where Church membership is quite diverse & has gotten that way pretty much organically, a lot of this was very interesting to me.

Aside from President Oaks's comments, I was impressed with the stories of people in Africa & Brazil, some of which I had heard before; but it was touching to hear it in a storytelling fashion with people's voices. How can we doubt that God knows & loves us after hearing about these brothers & sisters who had testimonies, & waited & hoped & prayed for so long to receive all His blessings?

Another impressive thing was the spirited way the program was presented. There was an enthusiasm in it that was really infectious. :)

If anyone didn't see it, it is available on the Church website. I hope the Church will make DVDs of it available too, like it does with Christmas concerts or other special events, so people can have a copy to enjoy anywhere & anytime they want.
