I just got a phone call asking if it would be okay to make my oldest daughter my ministering companion. The RS president wasn't sure what that will mean yet, but that much is already being set in motion.

Our High Council meeting was last night and it was to discuss Ministering Implementation (our Stake RSP joined the meeting) and then each ward and who might be the EQP.

Afterwards the Stake Presidency met, considered each ward again and decided upon five of our nine units EQPs.

Although this is a small thing (considering companionships), RS presidencies going of half-cocked seems a bit mad. Until the new EQPy's are in place and the proper Ministering Meeting between both presidencies can be held, how can they possible start their side of the Ministering?
Don't ask me, I only live here.

Maybe they're excited to start the new program with the young women, and don't want to wait around for a bunch of meetings before they jump right into the Lord's work. Mary and Martha.

My fault for not explaining. This was after a meeting with the bishopric. I don't think the RS president is launching on her own (but I would support her if she did).

Might be my independent Finnish upbringing, but I have no idea why the sisters could not get things going on right away. I assume at first most visiting teaching companionships will continue as ministering companionships. A few young women added to the mix, maybe a few couples. (which we already have had at times). Focus being on educating the sisters about how we should go about the work.

I think the whole point of ministering is about getting up and doing something instead of having meetings and waiting for something to happen before you can do anything...  ;)

I opened LDS Tools today.  After the sync, it changed to "Ministering Brothers" and "Ministering Sisters" instead of Home Teachers and Visiting Teachers.  I know it's just a name change at this point, but that was fast!  Looks like there is also new functionality to coordinate with caller ID to display if someone is calling from the ward or stake.   8)

It is not to take away from the Relief Society's efforts to wait for a coordination of combined efforts.  This shouldn't be a power struggle.
