We started the round of unit conferences in our stake yesterday which meant sustaining the new president of the church for the first time.

Anyone else done that so far, by means of raising your arm I mean?

We had our Stake Conference earlier this month, before the new First Presidency had been announced. So our first opportunity will be at General Conference.

California & other West Coast states had a special regional conference this past Sunday, broadcast from SL No Church-wide sustainings were presented.

Hopefully we've all been sustaining the new FP as we've (hopefully) done previous ones, with our prayers, heeding their counsel, & doing our best to lighten our leaders' loads by being diligent in our callings.

No. I don't feel comfortable discussing things like this on this forum.

WADR, then why bring it up?

Because I thought someone else might feel the same, and didn't want them to feel alone?

I mean, as if I needed more evidence my views and I are not welcome here. My bad. If I can't comment on a thread without people being rude, I'll find the door.

Everyone is welcome here....even if sometimes we don't understand each other very well.

I actually would not mind a discussion of the First Presidency interview if kept civil.

KQ, I also have several concerns regarding the new 1st pres.  I don't have time to get into the details why right now though.  Maybe I can carve out some time later this week.

I don't have reservations or concerns so much as I don't know Pres. Nelson that well.  I know Pres. Oaks from his teachings about law and the gospel.  I know Pres. Eyring from his unshakable convictions about service. I just don't know Pres. Nelson much beyond his expertise as a surgeon. Maybe I haven't been listening close enough...

It was certainly NOT my intention to be rude. I did ask with all due respect. I’m sorry you feel uncomfortable.

I'm sorry too if you feel uncomfortable. I don't think you're unwelcome here, at least not from the Nauvoo Neighborhood. There are a variety of opinions here, although most folks probably do come down on the side of strong testimonies, high activity, & interpretations of some gospel teachings that are more orthodox than not. Still, though, I think folks are reasonable & tolerant, & I know we're all sorry if you don't feel welcome.

We had our ward conference last week. We raised our hands to sustain the prophet and counselors and Qof12, all the way down to the ward level. We do this every time we have a ward conference, and have done it for as long as I can remember. Don't other wards do this as part of their ward conferences?

Yes, they all do it. I'm the stake clerk and stake SS President, so I go to all the unit conferences. I also prepare the sustaining sheet.

I was just asking who had had their's yet.

Presumably there will be a Solemn Assembly at General Conference in April. Along with the calling of two new Apostles (unless by then it needs to be more).

Our ward conference will be in about 2 1/2 weeks. So we'll get to do our sustaining then.
