And that was a pretty cool dramatic reading by The Donald. He is so good at projecting, which many people have commented on. I hadn't heard that performance, but it's such a perfect example.

If you listen to his language over these past few years, it's the language of religion. I think Donald Trump has come to fancy himself as a Messiah figure, and to consider his faithful supporters as disciples. From the outside, it's the Emperor's New Clothes story written in American politics. For the believers, he's the Chosen One.

An authoritarian takeover is occurring right now. Massive moves have been made to consolidate power. Loss of constitutional rights is occurring. It is being cheered on because the targets are currently disfavored. But that disfavor will spread to many more targets.

The key will be figuring out how to become the one that can use that power.

I think possession of The One Ring has something to do with it.

It's scary how worshipful & adulatory they are. It isn't just respect or admiration, but blind, unquestioning fealty. The kind that prompted someone like Eichmann to say he was only following orders. I wonder what Heavenly Father would think if we treated Him that way. There is a difference between sincere reverence & making an *** of ourselves for the purpose of ingratiation.

An authoritarian takeover is occurring right now. Massive moves have been made to consolidate power. Loss of constitutional rights is occurring. It is being cheered on because the targets are currently disfavored. But that disfavor will spread to many more targets.

IMO, the most important distinction to make in the "figuring" is motivation: WHY does "the one that can use that power" really want it? If someone wants power for its own sake, or only to enrich or further empower themselves, or prolong their position in power, we need to worry about them.

Here is an example of the authoritarian power consolidation that happened this week.

Nancy Pelosi attempted a military coup. She called the military leaders and essentially asked them not to obey the president of the United States as relates to military matters. Interfering in military chain of command and separation of powers. Some might say she was just seeking clarification of laws and regulations. But that is not a good argument, as clarification on the laws and regulations can be done by opening a book or asking a lawyer. This was a call of pressure and influence to the joint chief of staff.

I think a lot of people are scared that President Trump will order the military to keep him in the Oval Office after January 20. We've got nine more days. Everyone just needs to take a deep breath and back down.

For the record: Congress has broad power when it comes to the military. Congress has the constitutional authority to declare war, to structure the military, to regulate the chain of command, and to assign duties and offices. The military is not under the sole purview of the Commander in Chief.

It is the sworn duty and moral obligation of all servicemen to refuse an order that is unlawful. I applaud Speaker Pelosi for reaching out to senior military officials to ensure theirs loyalty lies first with God, the American people and the constitution, and not the outgoing president.

Maybe what I saw on the TV wasn't real, but as far as I understood what happened was that she was checking to make sure that the armed forces were not going to be used to overthrow the elected representatives of the people. That isn't a powergrab but someone reacting to a violent situation that could easily have got out of hand.

This poem, “Let America Be America Again,” was written in the 1960s by the prominent African-American poet Langston Hughes. America doesn’t need to be “great again,” but just remember where its greatness comes from & simply be what it was always meant to be.

Welcome back, America.

Did it or didn’t it? (Did Trump rhetoric provoke the violent uprising that put all of Congress & the vice president of the United States in danger, or did it not?)

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/feb/02/trump-capitol-riot-powder-keg-impeachment-prosecutors

Trump’s new lawyers say Trump “denies” it is false to say he won the election “in a landslide.”

If Trump were still president, McConnell would be singing a different tune. LOL. 🤣

Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthorn, & Tommy Tuberville – the emperor’s new acolytes in Congress. Everyone in the whole country reads or sees the news, but one of these newcomers couldn’t because the weather was bad. LOL some more. 🤣 🤣

Biden says (not exactly, but implicitly) Trump is too crazy & untrustworthy to be given security briefings that former POTUS’s have traditionally received.

Here is an analysis of the video the Donald Uber Alles crowd watched on the day the Capitol was stormed & invaded & hundreds of elected U.S. officials were put in danger. You can watch the video itself, & it is really disturbiig.

https://www.justsecurity.org/74504/movie-at-the-ellipse-a-study-in-fascist-propaganda/

Even without the incisive analysis, people with some sense of history would be unnerved by how the past repeats itself. We are not supposed to use the "N" or "F'" words here, but watching that video will remind you of certain events in Berlin & Rome in the 1930s, when certain figures gathered crowds of thousands to inflame their prejudices & fears, manipulate them, & exploit them with the intent of promoting their own sick, psychotic world views.

Sorry, but Biden is right to believe Trump should not have the privilege of receiving national security briefings post-WH. What I would trust Bush, Obama, or Clinton with, I do not trust Trump with, & that is the security of my country. I do not want America's national interests to be compromised by sensitive info going to Q-Anon, Proud Boys, Klan fans, Putin, Kim, or the highest bidder.

He didn't pay attention to the briefings while he was in the White House, so there's no reason to keep giving them to him after he's no longer in office.

He didn't pay attention to the briefings while he was in the White House, so there's no reason to keep giving them to him after he's no longer in office.

His only reason for wanting them now would be self-serving.

Past presidents have received them if there was good reason for them to have the info, for instance maybe they were going abroad to represent the U.S. at an international event.

Every past president has devoted some time to the public good, or to occasionally being a goodwill ambassador for America out in the world. The public good & being a goodwill ambassador are the very last things Donald Trump would ever think about. He didn't as president, & his last days in office were spent rousing Americans to even greater hostility against each other. We need not think he will suddenly morph into a wise elder statesman, or worry that any future president would even consider sending him to represent us. We don't have to wonder if he will work with Habitat for Humanity, or promote literacy in $#!***** countries, or encourage Melania to do anything like this new project of Michelle Obama's.

https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Michelle-Obama-to-team-up-with-puppets-for-a-15936231.php

Trump is going to spend his time playing golf, manipulating & exploiting money & people, & emitting outraged whines about how the election was stolen from him. None of those endeavors requires any security info. And even if he decides to do something overseas, nothing can even remotely justify trusting him with anything he could misuse to put our country or our military or diplomatic people at risk.
