And that was a pretty cool dramatic reading by The Donald. He is so good at projecting, which many people have commented on. I hadn't heard that performance, but it's such a perfect example.

If you listen to his language over these past few years, it's the language of religion. I think Donald Trump has come to fancy himself as a Messiah figure, and to consider his faithful supporters as disciples. From the outside, it's the Emperor's New Clothes story written in American politics. For the believers, he's the Chosen One.

An authoritarian takeover is occurring right now. Massive moves have been made to consolidate power. Loss of constitutional rights is occurring. It is being cheered on because the targets are currently disfavored. But that disfavor will spread to many more targets.

The key will be figuring out how to become the one that can use that power.

I think possession of The One Ring has something to do with it.

It's scary how worshipful & adulatory they are. It isn't just respect or admiration, but blind, unquestioning fealty. The kind that prompted someone like Eichmann to say he was only following orders. I wonder what Heavenly Father would think if we treated Him that way. There is a difference between sincere reverence & making an *** of ourselves for the purpose of ingratiation.

An authoritarian takeover is occurring right now. Massive moves have been made to consolidate power. Loss of constitutional rights is occurring. It is being cheered on because the targets are currently disfavored. But that disfavor will spread to many more targets.

IMO, the most important distinction to make in the "figuring" is motivation: WHY does "the one that can use that power" really want it? If someone wants power for its own sake, or only to enrich or further empower themselves, or prolong their position in power, we need to worry about them.

Here is an example of the authoritarian power consolidation that happened this week.

Nancy Pelosi attempted a military coup. She called the military leaders and essentially asked them not to obey the president of the United States as relates to military matters. Interfering in military chain of command and separation of powers. Some might say she was just seeking clarification of laws and regulations. But that is not a good argument, as clarification on the laws and regulations can be done by opening a book or asking a lawyer. This was a call of pressure and influence to the joint chief of staff.

I think a lot of people are scared that President Trump will order the military to keep him in the Oval Office after January 20. We've got nine more days. Everyone just needs to take a deep breath and back down.

For the record: Congress has broad power when it comes to the military. Congress has the constitutional authority to declare war, to structure the military, to regulate the chain of command, and to assign duties and offices. The military is not under the sole purview of the Commander in Chief.

It is the sworn duty and moral obligation of all servicemen to refuse an order that is unlawful. I applaud Speaker Pelosi for reaching out to senior military officials to ensure theirs loyalty lies first with God, the American people and the constitution, and not the outgoing president.

Maybe what I saw on the TV wasn't real, but as far as I understood what happened was that she was checking to make sure that the armed forces were not going to be used to overthrow the elected representatives of the people. That isn't a powergrab but someone reacting to a violent situation that could easily have got out of hand.
