... just common sense, ... As part of the Women's Session (the first to replace a Priesthood session), it will be announced that Young Women will be included into the banner of Relief Society. This will create another Parallel with the Priesthood
I've wondered for a long time why we don't do this already.

Taalcon,
If you to have inside information as you seem to have from the above comments, it does not seem appropriate to share.

As I said:

Quote
Really and truly, I am not by far what one would call on the inside, but I've come to know who are reliable sources of word of mouth and who are not.

My sources are public posts on Facebook and Twitter. And recognizing people who tend to be wrong, and people who tend to be right. I've seen no documents. I have not recieved them as part of any calling. I don't go to document leak sites. I would not share them if I had them. I enjoy putting puzzle pieces together.

It's all third-fourth hand, and I know that at least the 3rd hands seem to feel the second hands are convincing.

It's taking in the whole rumor mill, and following the leads. That's it. It's fun for me. A game I'm not invested in, but become delighted if works out.

If you still find that inappropriate, I don't know what to tell you.

The YW in my ward always have opening exercises with the RS the first Sunday every month and girls 8 & up are invited to at least 3 RS meetings (what used to be called Homemaking) a year. If it is announced that YW and RS will now be 'together' more often like Priesthood is, I think that would go a long way in helping the YW transition in RS.

"Really and truly, I am not by far what one would call on the inside, but I've come to know who are reliable sources of word of mouth and who are not."

Well, we all know what Jesus said about the scribes.   ;)

One more thing to consider.  2020 will also introduce the end of scouting and the new youth program.  If we switch to a 2 hour block in 2019, that will give stakes a year to figure out where to cram 4 wards into a building.  Then in 2020 YM/YW could switch to an every other week schedule, just like activity days, with 2 wards sharing the building.  On off weeks we'll be encouraged to do home gospel studying using the new home instruction curriculum.  Study groups for adults will also be encouraged for those who like to deep dive.

Well, whatever happens, I think the church is going through a major structural overhaul like it did in the late 70's through mid 80's.  Fun times.

Not sure how old you are JLM, but this type of thing has been discouraged for years. Back in the 1980's several of these types of groups sprung up innocently, but eventually several members of the groups felt they knew more than the brethren because of their 'diving' deeper leading them down a road to apostasy....even setting up their own 'church'. I personally know of 2 families splintered because of such groups.

I think Taalcon shouldn't share his predictions but just because of #spoilers.

Another model I've seen suggested is a 15 minute sacrament meeting that cuts out all talks. Welcome, prayers, hymns, sacrament, go to class. That would mean end of High Council Sunday, Testimony Meeting, and primary program as part of Sacrament Meeting. That leaves 45 + 45 for SS and RS/PH, Sharing Time and Primary classes go untouched.

Plus it's the one options that actually relieves the most number of burdens at once. Focuses on the Sacrament, and doesn't 'kick out the kids'.

Just a few more days 'til we find out :)

I think this is a little tight, especially if there are a couple, or more, confirmations. But 30 minutes with 5 minute breaks and 40 minutes SS and Ph/RS would work.

Time between sacrament administration and the end could be filled with assigned testimonies, or one talk.

Everyone I know wants two hour church. Am I the only one that would be saddened by it? I don't believe many will use the extra hour wisely, it will just be wasted. And for the nearly a third of our ward members that come after the sacrament has been administered it will even more pointless bothering to try to get there.
Don't ask me, I only live here.

I remember people saying this when we went to the block schedule back in 1980. But the church's research in the pilot programs showed attendance increased over 10%. At any rate, I enjoyed not going to church twice on Sundays (three times for my dad) and right after school on Tuesdays.

I was just looking back at the predictions for the last GC, & reviewing what I predicted since I had forgotten. And so here, I see one of my predictions coming to pass.

With March/April 2018 General Conference coming soon, it’s time for the speculation & surmising & rumors to begin. What can we look forward to?

Who will be called to the vacancies in the Quorum of the Twelve? Will there be another one from outside the U.S., maybe even from the Third World? …..

The next one didn't, but from what we've been seeing in Washington, it isn't time to dedicate the three branches of government for missionary work. They are not ready to receive light & truth. But, as always, it certainly is time to focus prayer on them, so they can be blessed to receive wisdom to not keep wrecking our country.

Last time I predicted that the White House, Congress, & the Supreme Court would be dedicated for missionary work, but it didn't happen. And see how much better off our country is now (not). Maybe it will be announced this time, & since the former Utah Supreme Court justice is now on the First Presidency, I'll again predict that he will be the one to pronounce the dedication....

Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!!

Elder Bednar powerfully and masterfully illustrated how the progression of policies and procedures has had the goal of further unity in Christ.
