Thanks for the update, CG. I am constantly in awe at how much we can endure when we let the Lord bear it with us. Your testimony is an inspiration.

I could use some prayers you guys. I caught both some nasty intestinal bug and some horrific lung crud over the holidays, which hit me extra hard because of severe post-surgical scarring in my gut and (exacerbated by medications) and bad post-pneumonia/lung collapse scarring in my lungs. Right now I haven't been able to stop severe coughing for about 11 days (this is on TOP of the normal, everyday coughing I've had for nearly 4 years) and I think I've broken another rib or two. No medication or treatment, prescription or otherwise, has ever helped, and it's causing some repercussions throughout other damaged parts of my body. I am exhausted by the fight, both physically and mentally. I could use all the help I can get.

Awww, I'm really sorry,  Dyany. :(  You'll be in my prayers & I'll put you on our prayer roll - I'm probably going next week. (I'll put all the neighbors on it who have been experiencing challenges).

Dyany, I'm sorry you're dealing with this again. I'll add my prayers for strength and comfort. Give us updates as things get better.

Me Too.   (And I'll ask that your mind think of anything that would help you, since none of us know but He does.)

Prayers & sympathies for all involved after a Ukrainian airliner crashed in Tehran the other day. There were 176 people aboard, just going about their travel plans, & none of them survived. Sympathies to everyone involved, & to our Canadian neighbors as 63 Canadians were among the passengers.

There are suspicions & theories that have yet to be confirmed in the midst of all the tension between Iran & the U.S. Whatever actually happened, this just increases the hostility, which the world doesn’t need. We need to pray for more wisdom for the secular leaders of nations so we can all live in peace.

And while we are thinking about prayers for those having adversities, the people of Australia are besieged by wildfires that are far too familiar to us in the North American West. Prayers going forth for them as well.

It’s reassuring to know that Heavenly Father never tires of hearing from us.

A bunch of the passengers were from Edmonton, where I lived for a decade. Friends of mine know some of them. The community is devastated.

This article was written before the speculation from official sources that Iran shot down the plane. While 63 of the passengers were Canadian, it seems 138 of them were headed to Canada via Kyiv, so they were people with some kind of ties to Canada or people there.

Dyany, I’m sorry.
I’ve had my share of fires in my day, so Australia is in a tender spot.
I’ve lost friends in senseless acts.

All affected are in my prayers.

Update:

CrowMother is home.  I’m grateful but immensely overwhelmed at the same time.  Everything is now going to take 2-3 times longer than they did on 15 December.  Her brain is not talking to her body when it comes to movement.    She will need a smaller bed, lower to the ground, this year; probably sooner, rather than later.  Her physical health may be in a race with her mental health.  Taking care of one is hard enough.  Together, though....

It was easier to visit her than take care of her, even when she was at the hospital 30 minutes away.  But that is not what the Lord asked us to do.  He asked us to come so she could stay in her home as long as possible.  So...I guess I am selfishly asking for prayers to help me through this, to find people who can relieve me and fill in when necessary.  To help me have the patience I saw in the caretakers over the last 36 days.
Jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way down.

You got it, CG. My mom was a 24/7 caregiver for my dad during the last year of his life. I know she wouldn't have chosen any other way, but she was perpetually exhausted. So, I pray you'll be blessed with strength and with enough moments during the days when you can just pause and catch a bit of peace. You've been amazingly resilient through so many challenges. I know you can do this!

I wish we lived close enough that I could give you respite when you need a break. You have our prayers.

CG, could CrowMother qualify for hospice?  A doctor will have to attest that she likely has 6 months or less to live, but if her body isn't listening to her brain, that is quite possible. As I understand it, it's free and will allow caregivers to come to the home to help with palliative and some general care. It might be worth looking into. It would keep her there but give you some relief at the same time.
