ASEA
« on: July 19, 2020, 04:00:03 am »
Maybe this should have gone under the health, but...

A sister who taught me in Primary, moved to another country soon after and has been my facebook friend for some years. I think she's maybe getting close sixty.

For some reason she recently sent a message how she thinks I might be intetested in/ open to this ASEA thing. I knew she loves it and believes it's the reason she's doing well,  but I had really no idea what it is.

My background is such that both my parents grew up in the countryside and I grew up drinking infusions made of lichen or black currant leaves, eating birch leave buds and new fur tree growth and different stuff, using propolis for cold (we had bees) etc, all that stuff that is now very fashionable (and I no longer really do that).

I believe all that is good. The birch buds have tons of vitamin C, so it's good for you etc. If I get a cold, I spray a zinc thing on my mouth and it seems to lessen the lenght of the cold. Also a strong ginger drink seems to do the same.

We had a chinese woman who joined the church in Finland. She looked at peoples ears and cured things by putting very small beans on earlopes, pressing certain points. Kind of like acupuncture. I was the translator between them. She told my mum she saw mum had had a miscarriage. Did she see it, or was it a pure guess? I don't know. They used the beans for a while, I cannot remember what they thought of that.

My mum had horrible migraines. I don't know if they had any medication at the time. Finally she went to a homeopathic. Got the stuff and the migraines stopped. I thought it seemed to help. Later on in my life, when I suspected one of my kids might have it, I read about the age it often just stops. Well, mum was about that age when it stopped...

A friend of mine is into this aloe vera thing, trying to sell stuff. She loves the products. I believe in aloe vera in a way, I have a small one at home and ever since a kid, I've used it for burns and it does help with those. I enjoy a regular aloe vera drink also, it's just good tasting. But these products are just ridiculously expensive.

So after reading a bit I really do not believe in this ASEA thing. It may help someone a bit, I do keep an open mind in a way,  but I'm not buying stuff.

What I find interesting is that the aloe vera, essential oils, ASEA etc are all Utah/ church member originated. I know there have been and are many others too. Is it that due to word of wisdom people seek alternatives to medicine (I really don't see a connection). They seem to all be businesswise similar pyramidical structures. Is that because of the huge amount of housewifes who want to do something while being stay at home mums? Why do our people seem so into these?

Because God blesses the righteous with riches. And active Utah people are the most righteous because they reside in Zion.

So God will bless their businesses.

As a result they are always on the look out for get-rich-quick schemes. And they have found their way to the UK as well.

Yes, on my mission there I bumped into a few too, but no longer remember what they were.

It's really, really bad in Utah. I think it's also a way for the wives to stay home (since for most of our history, the wife working outside the home was a sin) but still make money. Easy money + family time is how these MLMs have always been marketed (though it's always been a lie), and that really appeals to the "be good with money but have lots of kids and have perfect families" culture here. To the point that there's been really corrupt legislators that blocked laws that would have undermined a lot of the specious claims of the MLMs by requiring them to actually, say, have to be tested to prove their products contain the ingredients they say they contain.

Can you get an idea that I hate them passionately?

Sorry, I had to go back to edit because I realized I was so spacey when I wrote the original that it was meaning the opposite of what I meant!

To be honest, I'm glad I had to look up to see what in the world ASEA was. Glad it's not a part of my life.

I went to their website. There are far better uses for your money, like playing the lottery, because then you actually have a statistical chance of something good happening.

Red Wine is probably a better antioxidant than this product. In fact, red grape juice is too.

Seems we all agree on the product. I know the lady is sincere about it, but I know people believe in many things regarding health and our mind has great power over our bodies sometimes.

I still find it in a way interesting that these things have so much room in the lds church of Jesus Christ communities.
