Always wear clean underwear ...
« on: May 25, 2020, 08:18:49 am »
I have an illness that has suddenly required me to have to call an ambulance at times. Sigh. I have to go through the process of adjusting my life including ...!
Always wear non embarrassing, socially acceptable, not humiliating to be seen in public with pajamas!!!!!
So one night I had an attack and crawled to front door, managed to unlock the door and managed to call 911.
In the ambulance I started to feel better and I realized how I was dressed.
Oh dear! I was going to have to Uber home looking like ...
No more wearing discarded shrunken semi transparent clothing to bed!
There I was post Emergency room waiting for Uber. The ambulance drivers had had mercy on my soul and given me a blanket. I was wearing old wrinkled cotton drawstring pants, gardening crocs, and swathed in the ambulance blanket!
Uber pulled up, I crawled in the back and the driver said ‘I really admire hard all you health care folks are working through the pandemic’.
The relief almost killed me!
So thrifty souls. Saving on nightwear not always a great idea!

If you're ever in a car accident, you WON'T have clean underwear, 'cuz first you say it, then you do it! (I remember hearing that on a stand-up bit a long time ago. Don't remember who the comedian was.)
All grown-ups were once children...but only few of them remember it. ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, "The Little Prince."

I am sorry you have whatever illness you have that you have to deal with it alone and must call an ambulance. I know you are making light of your situation but I am still feeling compassion for your real plight and not your jammie choice....

Sunday 21, take care of yourself & don't stress too much about your underwear or jammies. Paramedics & all emergency responders have seen it all. People get sick in any kind (or quantity) of clothing imaginable. No one wears their best clothes with the idea that they'll be hit by a car that day & have to go to the hospital. If we have time to change clothes, put on our newest & best underwear, jammies, or robes before the paramedics arrive, it isn't an emergency!

I do remember our folks telling us to always wear clean underwear that wasn't falling apart, that wouldn't embarrass us, for just what we're talking about. It may have been a half-joke, who knows when they're 9 years old what their parents really mean! Mom used to check the dresser drawers & weed out the oldest, shabbiest, & most threadbare underwear & PJs. Those would get cut up to use in cleaning or dusting, or pieces in fairly good condition might be made potholders. No, Mom was not a quilter.
