Sorry to detract from the serious conversation going on. You can look at this as an interlude or interruption depending on your preference.

Curlybat,
See my PM about someone I know in the Church History dept to contact.  You could also contact someone in the PhD programs in archeology at one of the universities in the state and see if they would be willing to do some of that excavation and verification for their doctoral project.

Thanks! I did reach out but I found our family organization has been busy during my absence of late. With the death of my father, the loss of my income a few years ago and some family issues I had to step back a little. Plus, it also appears that I was left off the e-mail list  :(

The Church did conduct an inspection of the area with ground penetrating radar (probably when contemplating the area as a temple site - they already owned the land and leased it out to farmers). The grave sites were found and even more than originally thought. The family organization met with a member of the Presiding Bishopric a a couple months ago (who also happens to be a descendant of the first member of the family to settle on the site). Current conceptual plans for the site include a pioneer cemetery in a planned park near the temple. The fort marker or replacement may be integrated somehow but I am just assuming that at this point.

Still TheOne and only me who happens to now be curlybat.
